What is a Circle?
A circle is a place to have
fun while learning to explore and understand yourself and others. A
circle is a safe place to talk about things that you are thinking about in
your own life. A circle is a place for you to listen to others speak about
things going on in their life. You will learn about confidentiality and how
this contributes to making the circle a safe place for this kind of
sharing. The circle is a place where the skills of listening, witnessing,
sharing and supporting each other are modeled and taught.
What Topics are Discussed in Circle?
Topics include...
* self-esteem
* authentic communication
* conflict
* body image
* sexuality
* menstruation
* confidentiality
* family
* relationships
* respect
* feelings
...and any other topics that you want to bring up and are important to
you. This is a place for you to talk about the things that
matter.
Do you enjoy art, music, dance, or drama?
Your circle is also a place to participate in activities, to play and to have
fun!
How Does a Circle Work?
Two women Mentors are trained to guide your circle which will last 2
hours and be held every other week. The Mentors are trained to create
the context for the circles but you and the other girls in the circle can
determine what you would like to do in the circle. What topics are of
interest? What activities do you want to do together? |

What are the girls saying?

"I have learned more about who I am and who I want to be."
"A circle is a wonderful environment to talk and be comfortable in."
"In the circle, I learned that if I say what I am feeling and don't hold it in, I feel so much better in the long run."
"I feel safe knowing that everything I say is confidential. Nothing
will be repeated in school or anywhere else."
"I don't know what I would have done without being in my circle when I went into high school. It totally
changed my life."
Listen to an Interview on
